Explore Ming Kee

Located in the heart of Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, Ming Kee is a relatively new gem on Queen's Road Central, having opened just this year. The restaurant has quickly gained attention for its impressive Hong Kong-style roasted meats, offering dishes like roast pork, chicken, and goose. The roast goose, in particular, has earned praise for its perfectly crispy skin and tender, juicy meat, delivering a rich, roasted flavor that impresses every time. For those who enjoy a variety of flavors, the roast pork belly also stands out with its crispy skin and tender meat, though slightly on the saltier side.

One of the restaurant's signature dishes is the assorted rice with soup, which offers an excellent value for the price. The rice comes with an assortment of roasted meats like lean char siu and red sausage. Although these types of dishes are often made with less desirable cuts, Ming Kee ensures that even the lean cuts of char siu are tender and packed with flavor. The soup accompanying the dish is simple yet flavorful, with a clear broth that has a delicate balance of sweet carrots and a hint of MSG, without overwhelming the taste.

The restaurant's ambiance mirrors its food-unpretentious but inviting, and the staff is known for being polite and attentive. Despite its location in a bustling wet market area, Ming Kee manages to offer a comfortable dining experience with efficient service. At a price of just HK$78 for a hearty and fulfilling meal, Ming Kee delivers great quality in one of Sheung Wan's lively food districts. This combination of tender meats, flavorful rice, and affordable prices has made Ming Kee a new favorite for many.

A venue for yummy Hong Kong style roasted pork, chicken and goose. Juicy, tender and tasty was our first impression for this one-year-old shop. Will come back.

It's been on my to try list for a long time. Today finally made up my mind to give it a go. I was surprised the wet market food level was completely packed. Luckily when I arrived, there was an empty seat. I quickly ordered the 5 assorted rice with soup. Usually these assorted ones just come with not the best parts. But the one I got was beyond my expectation: Soup: Definitely got MSG, but still clear broth with nice red & green carrots flavour and didn't feel thirsty after drinking. Roast goose: The skin was crispy yet juicy! Meat was tender and have a very nice roasted flavour. Roast pork belly: The skin was still quite crispy with tender meat, a little bit salty. Roast char siu: Definitely lean part, but still tender with nice flavour. Red sausage: Normal, not too salty. Salted egg: Normal, not too salty. Overall the experience was delightful with polite staff. This costs HK$78 and in Sheung Wan, this is actually pretty good price with such quality.

Located in the 2nd floor of the local food centre. A hidden gem for roast meats. The roast goose was perfect. Everything is roasted at the store, very local and authentic.

I think one of the characteristics of stores inside the market is that even elderly people can enjoy drinking until late. I love this place because I can feel the atmosphere of Hong Kong closely.
